The Classy Kit Rose Quartz Earrings are made using rose quartz (as well called by some the pink quartz) gemstones. It is a variant of the mineral quartz that exhibits a delicate pink to rose-red tint. The presence of trace amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese is typically associated with the color.
Some rose quartz formations contain minuscule rutile needles that give rise to asterism when viewed in transmitted light. According to recent studies using X-ray diffraction, the color is believed to originate from tiny, microscopic fibers of dumortierite within the quartz.
Moreover, there exists a scarce kind of pink quartz, commonly known as crystalline rose quartz, with a color that is thought to stem from trace amounts of phosphate or aluminum.
The color in these crystals appears to be light-sensitive and susceptible to fading. The first documented occurrences of these crystals were found in a pegmatite near Rumford, Maine in the United States, as well as in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
